Sun Safety at Gingerbread Nurseries and Playgroup

Summer has arrived, and it's time to remind parents to apply sunscreen to their children before dropping them off at Gingerbread Nurseries and Playgroup in Leicester. We understand that sun safety is crucial for children. The children at our nursery LOVE playing in our outdoor space, and we ensure they are protected from the sun’s harmful rays, especially during the sunnier, warmer months. Alongside keeping them well-hydrated with plenty of water, here are a few ways we keep our children safe at our nurseries in Leicester:

Staying Safe

Sunscreen: We ask parents to apply sunscreen before the children arrive and re-apply it before we go outside. There are many options available that suit different children depending on their skin type. The article below rates various sunscreens based on several factors, which you might find helpful.

Clothing: While we don't want our children to overheat, loose-fitting, long-sleeved clothing helps protect them from sunburn.

Hats: We also request that children bring sunhats to protect their heads and faces, which also helps keep them cool.
